Description: Solaia is a 50 acre (20 hectare) vineyard located on the Tenuta Tignanello estate. The Antinori family first produced this iconic wine in 1978, and the initial blend was Cabernet Sauvignon (80%) and Cabernet Franc (20%) and repeated again in 1979. In subsequent years 20% of Sangiovese was introduced into the blend and adjustments were made in the rapport between Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc until the current blend was settled upon. Only produced in exceptional vintages Solaia is a very intense ruby red in colour with concentrated aromas of red and black fruits (cherries and black cherries, raspberries, cassis, blueberries, and wild berry fruit) alongside notes of vanilla, black pepper, and liquorice.
